After yesterday world championship big emotions, today the grand finale of the 3Epic long weekend with new, ravishing and exciting events: “Lavaredo 90”, “Misurina 70” and “Cadini 60”
Auronzo-Misurina (Belluno, Veneto), 16th September 2018 – The Sardinian Pietro Sarai, Elite athlete of the Scott Racing Team, has won the MTB Marathon “Lavaredo 90”, the most challenging race among the 3 scheduled for the master bikers in the closing day of this unforgettable 3Epic World Championship weekend. Behind him Andrea Bravin of Caprivesi and the Colombian Johan Sebastian Canaveral Vargas, who ended the race with a great comeback despite yesterday fatigue in the world championship.
Sarai made a relentless ride and was in sole command after just 12 km from the start line: this is why he was today undisputed protagonist: “Winning on this track has been very exciting and has a particular taste for me too. I cannot hide I regret not having been part of the Italian team that yesterday performed very well on this track, but this has been a difficult season for me and I want to start again from this result to get back to the top. I thank my team, my family and all those who have always been close to me.”
The women’s race was instead a long and exciting red carpet rode from the first to the very last metre by the 10-time world and olympic (Athens 2004) champion Gunn-Rita Dahle Flesja. Another race in sole command, yet a race completely different than usual: “Last night we celebrated my farewell to elite races, and this morning I was ready at the start line at 8.30 because I would have not missed for anything in the world the chance to ride more relaxed in this awesome piece of heaven.”
